Founded in 2021, Yzerfontein Sea Sport is your gateway to exploring the West Coast’s remarkable coastline and marine life. Based in the charming town of Yzerfontein, we offer kayak, surfboard, and wetsuit rentals designed to help guests experience the ocean safely and responsibly.

In 2025, we expanded our offerings to include ecotourism boat trips to Dassen Island. These trips focus on the island’s rich wildlife, seabird colonies, marine life, and fascinating maritime history, while highlighting the importance of conservation and responsible tourism in this unique ecosystem.

Our goal is to share the beauty of the West Coast while fostering a deeper understanding and respect for the natural environment. Whether you're joining us on the water or exploring the coastline, we are committed to creating meaningful ocean experiences that promote sustainability, safety, and appreciation for the incredible biodiversity of our region.

Meet ILHA BRANCA

Our custom-built vessel named after the original Portuguese name for Dassen Island. Powered by twin engines and built for both comfort and safety, Ilha Branca is designed to handle the Atlantic waters with ease. Whether you're cruising along the Yzerfontein coastline or exploring the rich history and wildlife around Dassen Island, our boat offers a smooth, secure, and unforgettable journey.

Our Team

Meet Adré Rheeder, Skipper and founder

I bring a lifelong connection to both the sea and conservation. With a National Diploma in Nature Conservation, I am not only your skipper but also a guide passionate about sharing the unique ecology of our coastline. My boating background spans more than eight years of competitive inflatable racing, during which I represented Infanta Inflatables, won the Trans Agulhas Inflatable Boat Race, achieved a second-place finish in another, and earned provincial colors. My professional path has also included a dedicated career in viticulture, wine and senior management roles, which instilled in me a strong sense of responsibility, precision, and care. As your skipper, I combine technical competence on the water with a deep respect for nature, ensuring a safe and enriching experience for every guest.

I bring a strong business and organisational background to Yzerfontein Sea Sport, ensuring everything behind the scenes runs smoothly. Managing the bookings, and day-to-day administration of the business.

From your first enquiry to final confirmation, I focus on clear communication and efficient planning so guests can enjoy a seamless, stress-free experience. While Adré takes care of the time on the water, I make sure everything is well organised on shore — allowing each trip to be relaxed, professional, and well coordinated.
